Helen B. Wilcox, 88, of Decatur, IL passed away on Saturday (June 18, 2011) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A service to celebrate Helen’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (June 21, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday (June 20, 2011). Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

Mrs. Wilcox was born on September 22, 1922 in Elwin, IL, the daughter of William and Ena Ficker. Helen was a 1940 graduate of Blue Mound High School. She worked at Western Union as an operator during WWII then later helped her husband at Wilcox & Son Construction Co. She was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. Helen married Orval Ralph Wilcox, who was an engineer for Wabash and Norfolk & Western Railways, on January 10, 1947.

Surviving is her husband: Orval Ralph Wilcox of Decatur, IL; daughter: Deborah Shepherd and her husband Dwaine of Orland Hills, IL; grandchildren: Douglas Shepherd and his wife Debbie of Channahon, IL, Nicole Shepherd of Orland Hills, IL, Gregory Wilcox and his wife Jessica of Kincaid, IL; great grandchildren: James Shepherd, Gabriella Shepherd, Jackson Shepherd, Lola Hart, Charlie Cannonito.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, son: Douglas Wilcox, sister: Shirley Pinto.
